One of our Commitments is to maintain and increase a sustainable approach to our work. Part of this is to strike the right balance between doing what we do through donations from abroad, and from income generating schemes here in Uganda. After all, as the old Chinese proverb says, "give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day…"
We have run basic training for people with small businesses, developing capacity and improving business viability. We’re also developing our own income generating projects, focussing particularly on taking advantage of Uganda's favourable climate by
establishing sustainable agricultural development programs. We are cultivating land to grow matoke – a Ugandan staple – vegetables and fruit, and also vanilla. An extra benefit of this work as that we can teach our children how important it is to put the land to good use to produce food. If you want to get more involved in this work, drop us an email.
