Dear Friends,
Welcome back to Crane Mail from River of Life! We've got so much to tell you about... Duncan and Mary are currently in the UK - Duncan is receiving treatment for Multiple Myeloma, we've started the next phase of the building work at the White Eagle Project, and much more. But first, a special plea to help more of Masaka's poorest in honour of River of Life 'coming of age' - we're 18 on the 1st January...
Onwards and upwards with River of Life Church
The end of this year marks a 'coming-of-age' for River of Life Church, as we're turning 18! Some of us have been around since 1994, when Duncan and Mary responded to the call to leave their work with the homeless in London, and come to Masaka in Uganda to plant a church. Since then we have grown in response to God's call, trying to keep our vision always in sight...

We're building again! The White Eagle Project goes up a gear...
It's been over 2 years since we completed the second phase of the White Eagle Centre, back in 2009. By then, we had six simple rooms for the White Eagle boys, a lounge, dining room, kitchen and toilets. Throughout 2009 and 2010, fundraising for the building work has continued, most memorably with Tim and Sarah Crow's Wedding Gift List, and the maddest cycling challenge ever - non-stop from Manchester to London.

Update on Duncan and Mary
| Duncan and Mary returned to the UK late last year after Duncan was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow's plasma cells. He's undergone chemotherapy, and completed a stem cell transplant two weeks ago. He is making a very good recovery under the careful supervision of Mary. Please continue to pray for them - email us to join PrayerNET which will give regular updates.

The Lane's Log Final Farewell - Webale Uganda!
From June to August this year, we welcomed the wonderful Andy and Hannah Lane. Trained physios, they helped us establish stronger links with our local hospitals, trained with Ball Line Football Academy and helped out with the White Eagles. They kept a regular blog whilst they were with us, which gives some unique insights into being a Muzungu in Masaka! Read every episode here...

All change at the Girls Home...
For three years we have given vulnerable girls a home at the White Eagle Project's Girls Home. It's all about to change, as Sarah tells us in her latest blog "The Last Stand of the Rats"...
"The big event this month has been the countdown to leaving the Girls’ Home. Our contract runs out at the end of the month, and it was decided that we would move out when that happened. At the same time, we have been building...

In other news, we have welcomed back a Marije, a trainee nutritionist who is working with Kitovu Hospital on a Community-based Nutrition Programme, we have started protecting a local shallow well, with the help of a very hard-working team from St Bertelines in Runcorn, UK, and the purchase of our new 25-acre site up at Misaali Hill for the Prayer Mountain is continuing apace, with just the title-deeds to sort out now. We are also about to welcome Tim and Sarah Crow as our latest Long-term Missionaries, and have recently welcomed Beth, who is with us for 12 months on her gap year.
God bless you all, and thank you for your continued support. It couldn't happen without you!
Rob, on behalf of everyone at River of Life.
P.S. We've designed a new leaflet that introduces you to all the different ministries at River of Life, in a clearly laid out, organised way. You may find it useful as there's so much happening - Click here to download it.
